Meet the Secretariat Staff

Natalia, a Bulgarian national, joined the ABU in September 2010. Before joining the ABU, Natalia was Programme Manager at the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD).

Lian is Malaysian and began working with the ABU in 1998.

Premila is an Indian national. After obtaining her Masters in Communication from USA, she has worked in different areas of media in USA and more recently at the Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) in Singapore. She joined the ABU in June 2012 as the Legal Officer.   

A Malaysian, Yvonne was previously Assistant to the Senior Officer, Sport, from 1991 to 1992 and has now returned as Administration Officer.

Fauziah, a Malaysian, joined the ABU in 2000.

Mee Wah is Malaysian. She started working at the ABU in November 2008.

Sharmila is Malaysian and joined the ABU in September 2010.

Shan, a Malaysian, joined the ABU in 1999.

Dr Amal holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) specializing in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, a Master of Electronics Engineering from Eindhoven, Netherlands, and PhD on evaluation of image and video compression frameworks. He has also completed post-graduate study in business management. He began his professional career in Sri Lanka, with the national broadcaster SLRC, then was senior lecturer in Engineering at the University of Moratuwa and returned to SLRC as Deputy Director General Engineering. In 2002 he joined the Institute of Information Sciences and Technology at Massey University in New Zealand as senior lecturer and researcher.

Nadeem is from the Maldives and was formerly with LSV Enterprise Pte Ltd. Singapore. He joined the ABU in 2008.

Geraldine is Malaysian. She joined the ABU in 1996.

Siva is Malaysian. He is skilled in developing, implementing and supporting information systems and networking. He joined the ABU in January 2009.

Idwan is Malaysian, joined the ABU in September 2012. He is experienced in supporting IT infrastructure and systems.

Hamidah is Malaysian and joined the ABU in 2000.

Mr Doki is Japanese and was previously the Senior Producer at the Strategic Planning Division of the International Planning & Broadcasting Department of Japan’s public broadcaster NHK. He has 27 years' experience in producing news programmes.

A Malaysian, Hanizah has worked for Radio Televisyen Malaysia as a radio producer and TV anchorwoman, as well as for NHK's Radio Japan. She joined the ABU in August 2006.

Vijay had been working with All India Radio since 1980 and her last position there was Deputy Director in charge of the Nodal Network Station's programming, supervision and planning. She joined the ABU in 2005.

Programme Producer on Secondment to ABU Programming from Korea Educational Broadcasting System, EBS-Korea. He joined the ABU in 2011.

A Malaysian, Kim started working with the ABU in 1991.

Azizul is Malaysian and joined the ABU in 2008.

Saras joined the ABU in May 2012.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications and her previous experience includes production, editing and PR.  Saras is a Malaysian. 

Yangjiang was seconded to ABU Sport from CCTV where he was Producer and Director of the CCTV sports channel. He graduated from the China Central Academy of Drama with a Masters degree in Film and Television theory. Yangjiang joined the ABU in July 2012.

Dylan is a graduate of Universiti Utara Malaysia. He started working at the ABU as an intern in the Technical Department and joined the Sports Department in May 2010.

Sedrik, a Korean national, joined the ABU in January 2012. Previously, he was a Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs and National Security News Team at KBS

Hock Guan is Malaysian and is in charge of the daily coordination of the news exchange. He joined Asiavision in 2001 and was appointed Senior Editor in 2006.

A Malaysian, Nisha was a journalist with Bernama Radio24, before she joined the ABU in March 2011.

Before joining ABU in March 2013 Sri was a freelance TV presenter & broadcast journalist for RTM and a news producer at Bernama Radio24. She has also worked in publishing and broadcasting in Brunei and Singapore. Sri is a Malaysian.

Shabana joined the ABU in April 2012.  In her previous roles Shabana worked in tourism, travel, sports and retail. She is a Malaysian.

Olya has worked for one of the ABU’s member national broadcasters, the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) based in Sydney, starting as a bilingual broadcaster/journalist and progressing to senior positions in executive management in both television and radio. She then became Deputy Director of Australia’s Classification Board and more recently was a General Manager at the country’s broadcasting regulator, the ACMA. She is also the immediate past President of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT).

Apart from managing the contents of the ABU website and updating its online directory, Nadzim designs ABU’s promotional materials. He also handles the layout of the quarterly ABU News. Nadzim, a Malaysian citizen, was previously a graphic designer/photographer for The Expat Group.
