The ABU’s Asiavision
is a vital link for many broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific.
Since its launch in 1984, the daily news
exchange has been covering the major events of the day, providing a major
source of news for the 20-plus national broadcasters who take part.
Established for the
free exchange of news among participating members, Asiavision has no commercial
or political aims.
Through its
operations centre in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, Asiavision members
exchange more than 9,000 news stories a year by satellite and file transfer.
Its members to-date
are: RTA-Afghanistan, Saba TV-Afghanistan, BTV-Bangladesh, BBS-Bhutan,
RTB-Brunei, CTN-Cambodia, CCTV-China, TVB-Hong Kong, DDI-India, Metro
TV-Indonesia, IRIB-Iran, NHK-Japan, KBS-Republic of Korea,TDM-Macau, RTM-Malaysia, MBC-Maldives, TV5-Mongolia,
Forever Group-Myanmar, NTV-Nepal, Channel NewsAsia-Singapore, SLRC-Sri Lanka,
MCOT-Thailand, RTTL-Timor Leste, TRT-Turkey and VTV-Vietnam.
