World Radio Day to be celebrated in Vietnam and Bangladesh

Bangladesh will observe the 7th World Radio Day (WRD) on February 13 with participation from public, private and community broadcasters.

This year’s theme of WRD ‘Radio and Sports’ calls on radio stations around the world to showcase the beauty of sports in all of its diversity as sporting events have the ability to unite people.

On this occasion, Public Service Broadcasting, Private Broadcasting, and Community Broadcasting initiators will arrange a Colourful Rally, Seminar, Cultural Program and listener’s conference at local and national level.

Representatives from media, media practitioners, civil society members and delegates will be invited to the event. 12 Bangladesh Betar (Radio) regional stations, 22 Private FM radio stations and 17 Community Radio stations in rural areas in Bangladesh will organize colourful ralies and seminars on the occasion.

The day-long program will start with a rally at 9 am from Betar Bhaban, Agargaon which will travel up to Shishumela and come back.

The Honorable Minister for the Ministry of Information, HE Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, MP Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will be the Chief Guest and Advocate Tarana Halim, MP Hoorable State Minister for Ministry of Information, and Mr. A.K.M. Rahmatullah, MP the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Ministry of Information and Mr. Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Information will be attending as the special guests at the opening ceremony of World Radio Day activities in Betar Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Narayan Chandra Shil, Director General, Bangladesh Betar will preside the occasion.

In Vietnam, Mr Vu Hai, Vice Director General of Voice of Vietnam and honourable guest from UNESCO office in Hanoi- MrToshiyuki Matsumoto are involved in the World Radio Day festivities and activities in Viet Nam. The activities are: 

The talkshow "Radio and Sport", involving two well-known people, among them the famous sport commentators Mr Định Khai and Mr Trương Anh Ngọc. The talkshow is about the theme of WRD day this year. The talkshow will be broadcast on 13th February on VOV2 channel (radio) and VTC3 (TV) of The Voice of Vietnam.

Interactive games "Being a radio reporter" and "Being a radio sports commentator", will see a story-booth made, where people will come to talk to the audience, some of them choosing to watch a video clip of a football match, then commentating on the match for the audience.
