Call for Application
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcast Development (AIBD), and the Global Media AIDS Initiative (GMAI) are organising a training/co-production initiative aimed at HIV Testing to commemorate the launch of HIV International Testing Day on 27th June 2008.
In line with this, the ABU, AIBD and GMAI would like to jointly extend an invitation to Asia-Pacific broadcasters to nominate one mid-career broadcast producer to represent its country and participate in a three day Programming Workshop co-organised by AIBD, ABU and GMAI.
Selected members will participate in a programming workshop which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The workshop will result in the production and broadcast of a series of mini documentaries.
The cost of the economy class return fare, hotel accommodation and per diem for four days will be covered for selected participants for the gathering in Kuala Lumpur. The workshop is scheduled to take place from 7-9 December 2007.
Asia-Pacific broadcast organisation in exchange will ensure that the produced mini-documentary will be first aired on 27th June 2008 and repeated at least two (2) times within 12 (twelve) months of creation of the mini documentary.
Participants will be expected to produce one (1) mini-documentary (approximately 5 minutes in length) each of a standard suitable for broadcast and exchange among other AIBD/ABU member broadcasters.
The mini-documentaries will be developed in a format to be agreed upon between participating broadcasters and an Executive Producer appointed by the ABU and will focus on different aspects of HIV Testing.
Please note that applicants should have a minimum of 5-years experience as a producer/journalist and be proficient in English.
The workshop has been planned as a lead-in to the 3rd World Electronic Media Forum from 10-11 December 2007. The selected participant is encouraged to attend this event as it will bring together broadcast executives, policy makers, academics, journalists, visionaries and decision makers from around the world. They will look at the fundamental changes taking place in the global information society, and discuss how these will affect the role of the electronic media as well as the dissemination of knowledge, economic and business practices, political engagement and other aspects of society (the cost of staying on will have to be covered by either the participant's organisation or the participant).
