Course: Train the Trainer and Course Design

The objective of Train the Trainer and Course Design is to help trainers improve their skills for training others. Delivering quality training that is relevant and practical makes trainers more able to add value to their organisation.

The course will be conducted by Steve Ahern, Head ABU Media Academy and Dr Drew McDaniel, Professor Ohio University

Steve Ahern

Steve is currently Head of ABU Media Academy. Steve has worked as a journalist, broadcaster, programmer, and manager in radio, television, and online media. Steve has been at the forefront of new media content delivery and has taught broadcasters around the world the techniques and business strategies for the new media age.

Steve is the author of a number of publications and books including two text books, Making Radio and Making Radio and Podcasts.

In 2009, Steve received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his services to media and training.


Dr Drew McDaniel

Drew McDaniel

Dr McDaniel is a Professor in the School of Media Arts & Studies at Ohio University. and previously worked a broadcast journalist. Dr McDaniel’s areas of expertise include –

  • Asian media
  • Comparative media studies
  • Media technologies
  • Research method

For many years Professor McDaniel served as Staff Consultant at the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dr McDaniel has written extensively on media in Asia and on technology in communication. (1) Electronic Tigers of Southeast Asia: The Politics of Media, Technology, and National Development; (2) Broadcasting in the Malay World; (3) Fundamentals of Audio Production; and (4) Fundamentals of Communication Electronics are a selection of the books that he has published.
