^5TH ABU INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & LEGAL COMMITTEE (IPLC)

The 5^th ABU Intellectual Property & Legal Committee (ex-Copyright Committee) will be held “ONLINE” on March 15 & 16, 2021. The theme for this year’s IPLC is “RETHINKING PROTECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN DIGITAL AGE”.

The IPLC is the ABU Legal Division’s flagship committee and forum which deals with contemporary legal and copyright issues related to broadcasting. This upcoming IPLC will be enriching, as it will throw light on legal issues related to international conventions and broadcaster rights in the age of New Media.

The first day of the IPLC (March 15, 2020) is a closed meeting session meant only for ABU’s Full Members, Additional Full Members and Associate Members while the second day (March 16, 2020) is the Forum where presentations on contemporary legal topics are made by eminent lawyers, legal professionals and other experts on matters related to broadcasting.

This year on the second day (March 16 – Forum), we are introducing IPLC AWARD (Building Respect for IP) – the next step!.

Its objective would be for participants to showcase how IP law’s theoretical basis can revolutionalise their workplace through innovative practical implementation methodologies or something they did for the development or to strengthen IPR’s in their country or their organisation. So, participants may select anything that they/ their team spearheaded during the last year. The details and registration information will be circulated separately.
