ABU Children’s Drama Co-Production

ABU Children’s Drama Co-Production is an annual co-production initiative developed in co-operation with the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

Now in its 19th year, this co-production allows the participating organisations through its producers/ directors that participated in this co-production to produce children’s stories that are attractive to even those who live in various countries, as well as being exposed to the standard of international production.

How ABU Children’s Drama Co-Production works:

First Meeting – Producers/directors of children drama  from participating organizations of the previous series screen their completed drama and exchange their broadcast materials based on “bring one, take all” basis at rights-free. The completed dramas will be forwarded to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The new producers of the next series shall propose their story ideas for further inputs.

Second Meeting – A continuation of the first meeting, participating producers will present their updated story ideas with the executive producer as well as view and obtain children’s dramas from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) at rights-free.
