Radio All Around Us: More than just a medium

This year’s RadioAsia will seek to redefine Radio in the modern age, looking back at its achievements but also forward to its potentials. Radio has now been with us for more than a century, serving generations in many forms, providing information, education and entertainment to billions across our region and around the globe.

This year’s RadioAsia hosts, Bangladesh Betar and Radio Song Festival producers Bangladesh TV, are perfectly placed to provide the backdrop for such discussions. As one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most energetic broadcasting organisations, they continue to build radio services for multiple uses – as entertainment and information, for education to poor and rural populations, for building social cohesion and for communicating in times of looming environmental crises and natural disasters. The conference will provide wonderful opportunities for delegates to see their progress and challenges and to ask: What are they doing we can learn from? What can we try?
