China to host GNF 2027

1 Nov 2026

In a historic move, the 2027 Global News Forum (GNF) will be hosted by China Media Group (CMG), with CCTV+ taking the leading role in the first-ever event to be held in China.

CMG is a key member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). CCTV+ is taking the lead with full support from its Chief Executive, Li Xia, who has been instrumental in ensuring the event becomes a historic milestone as it is hosted in China for the very first time.

A face-to-face meeting between ABU Secretary-General Ahmed Nadeem and Li Xia at the GNF in Sydney this September set the platform for this milestone announcement.

The GNF, a flagship event of the ABU News Department, will also make history by hosting the ABU AI Forum simultaneously alongside the main event.

This co-located format is designed to make ABU events more accessible to members while bringing internal workflows together to deliver maximum value.

The GNF will take place in June 2027, with the host city and venue to be confirmed in the coming days.
