We are delighted to invite you to join us for the 7th edition of ABU RAI Days taking place in Naples, Italy from 12 to 13 June 2025.
The theme for this year is Children and the media: Ensuring relevance for public media in the 21st century.
In an era where media landscapes are more crowded than ever, and global streaming giants continue their rapid expansion, how can public service media (PSM) ensure the prominence of children’s programming and maintain strong connections with young audiences?
To remain relevant, PSM must embrace innovation—crafting engaging, high-quality content that resonates with young viewers, listeners, and readers while adapting distribution strategies to reach them effectively. Discoverability is key. By leveraging advanced metadata, personalized recommendations, and strategic use of social platforms, PSM can enhance visibility and ensure that their content reaches the audiences who need it most. It is essential to develop beloved, high-value content that engages young audiences, fostering long-term loyalty.
At the heart of public service media lies a commitment to inform, educate, and entertain. Creating compelling stories, new formats and relatable characters that ignite young imaginations is central to this mission.
Engaging the Next Generations: Alpha & Beta
Generation Alpha (born 2010–2024) and Generation Beta (2025 onward) are digital natives, growing up in an always-connected world. Gen Alpha is known for its creativity, emotional intelligence, and strong sense of community. However, they are also increasingly aware of the pitfalls of social media, including cyberbullying and misinformation.
To engage these younger generations effectively, PSM must build direct connections through dedicated children’s programming, immersive digital experiences, and interactive content. Establishing these relationships early—and nurturing them as young audiences grow—is critical for sustaining trust and ensuring that PSM remains a valued and relevant media source for the future.
Join us at ABU Rai Days 2025 to explore bold new strategies and ensure that public media continues to inform, inspire, educate and captivate young audiences for generations to come.
