The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation (JSBC) to strengthen broadcasting cooperation and promote cultural exchange between South Africa and China.
As part of the partnership, the SABC is broadcasting China Hour, giving South African audiences an opportunity to explore Chinese culture, society and contemporary developments while encouraging greater understanding between the two countries. SABC Group Chief Executive Officer Nomsa Chabeli said the partnership supports the broadcaster’s public-service mandate to inform, educate and reflect the diversity of its audiences, while creating opportunities for international media and cultural engagement.
China Hour airs Monday to Thursday from 23:00 to 00:00 on SABC2, featuring a selection of Chinese television content showcasing the country’s stories, culture, people and contemporary life. Additional Chinese content will also be available to audiences on SABC+ through Video on Demand (VOD), extending access beyond the scheduled television broadcasts.
