Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) is marking its 81st anniversary with its sights firmly set on the future, as the public broadcaster continues its transformation to meet the demands of an increasingly digital media landscape.
RRI President Director I Hendrasmo highlighted the importance of changing mindsets across the organisation as audiences increasingly consume information and entertainment across multiple platforms. For RRI, digital transformation is not simply about adopting new technology. It also requires a shift in how the organisation thinks, works and connects with its audiences.
The broadcaster has been steadily expanding beyond traditional radio, strengthening its presence across digital and multiplatform services while maintaining its core responsibility as Indonesia’s public service broadcaster. As part of its anniversary activities, RRI also reflected on its journey and future direction through discussions examining the organisation’s evolution, the challenges facing radio in the digital age and the opportunities created by new ways of reaching audiences.
At the heart of the transformation is a determination to ensure RRI remains relevant to Indonesians as media consumption habits continue to change. While technology and platforms may evolve, RRI continues to emphasise the public-service values that have shaped the organisation throughout its history.
Entering its 82nd year, the broadcaster is looking to combine those foundations with a more agile, digitally focused approach, ensuring that RRI continues to inform, connect and serve audiences across Indonesia in the years ahead.
