Five days. One regional media community. A world of ideas, connections and opportunities.
From 30 October to 3 November 2026, broadcasters, media leaders and industry professionals from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond will gather in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for the 63rd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings.
Hosted by MTV Sri Lanka at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, GA2026 comes at an important time for our industry. Artificial intelligence, changing audience behaviour, new technologies and the continuing challenge of maintaining public trust are transforming the media landscape. Under the theme “Media for Peace and Humanity: Truth, Trust, and Transformation,” GA2026 provides a place to discuss these changes together — and explore what comes next.
Something for Everyone
One of the greatest strengths of GA2026 is the diversity of its programme. The Technical Committee brings together technology professionals to explore developments shaping the future of broadcasting, share expertise and strengthen collaboration across the ABU membership.
Content remains at the heart of broadcasting and at the centre of the discussions of the ABU Programme Committee. Bringing content professionals from across the Asia-Pacific, the Committee meeting will provide an important platform for members to exchange ideas, share successful initiatives and explore new opportunities for regional collaboration.
Through dialogue and collaboration, the Committee will continue supporting content that reflects the diversity of the Asia-Pacific, connects communities and strengthens the public value of broadcasting.
At the Media Leaders’ Forum, senior industry leaders will discuss some of the biggest challenges facing media organisations today, from transformation and innovation to leadership, credibility and sustainability, the evolving relationship between broadcasters and their audiences.
Broadcasting for All Forum turns the spotlight on inclusion, representation and accessibility, exploring how broadcasters can better reflect and serve the diverse communities around them. For content creators, the Programme Committee provides a space to exchange ideas, discuss developments in television, radio and digital content, and discover new opportunities for collaboration.
And with sport continuing to unite audiences across borders, the Sports Group brings sports media professionals together to discuss developments, share expertise and strengthen regional cooperation.
More Than Meetings
The value of the General Assembly goes beyond the formal agenda.
GA2026 is an opportunity to meet the people behind the industry — broadcasters, decision-makers, engineers, programme makers, sports professionals and partners from across the ABU network. Sometimes the most valuable conversation happens over coffee, between sessions or through an introduction that becomes a future partnership.
The ABU Prizes Gala is a celebration of outstanding creativity and storytelling from across the ABU community. It is a moment to recognise the dedication and hard work behind exceptional productions, and to honour the powerful stories and messages that inform, inspire and connect audiences throughout the Asia-Pacific.
Adding another dimension to the GA experience will be the ABU Song Festival 2026. Now in its 15th edition, the non-competitive festival brings together artists and performances representing the diverse cultures, languages and musical traditions of the Asia-Pacific.
More than a concert, the Song Festival reflects the spirit of the ABU itself — different voices and cultures coming together on one stage. For delegates in Colombo, it promises to be a celebration of creativity, diversity and connections that extend far beyond the meeting room.
Why Be There?
Because the challenges facing media today are shared challenges — and some conversations are simply better face to face. GA2026 is a chance to learn, exchange ideas, build relationships and return home with new perspectives and stronger connections across the region.
The ABU was built on cooperation between different countries, cultures, broadcasters and perspectives. In Colombo, that community comes together again — through conversation, collaboration, storytelling, sport and music.
From 30 October to 3 November, the conversation moves to Colombo.
Be part of it.
