The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) coverage of Pacific and international affairs has received recognition at the 2026 Lowy Institute Media Award.

ABC NEWS journalist Stephen Dziedzic received the top award for his reporting on international affairs, including his coverage of Australian Government policy and engagement with Pacific Island nations.

ABC’s two-part Foreign Correspondent investigation, Cartel Paradise, was also named a finalist. The investigation was reported by Senior Reporter Stephanie March alongside Pacific Local Journalism Network correspondents Lice Movono in Fiji, Chrisnrita Aumanu-Leong in the Solomon Islands and Marian Kupu in Tonga.

ABC NEWS Director Simon Robinson said the recognition highlighted the broadcaster’s work covering the Pacific and the value of collaboration between its journalists and regional reporting network.

The Lowy Institute Media Award, established in 2013, recognises Australian journalists for excellence in reporting on international affairs.
