Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has introduced Gema Borneo, a digital content platform dedicated to showcasing the diverse ethnic music, arts and cultural heritage of Sabah and Sarawak.

Launched on 1 September 2026, the initiative forms part of RTM’s efforts to bring more hyperlocal content to audiences while adapting to changing digital listening habits. Gema Borneo provides a dedicated space for the distinctive sounds and musical traditions of communities across Sabah and Sarawak, helping to give local artists and cultural content greater visibility.

The platform also reflects RTM’s wider role in preserving and promoting Malaysia’s cultural diversity, particularly traditional and ethnic music that may receive less exposure through mainstream channels.

Available digitally through RTM Klik, Gema Borneo allows audiences to access its audio content online, extending the reach of Sabah and Sarawak’s music and cultural heritage beyond conventional radio broadcasting. Through the initiative, RTM aims to connect traditional cultural expression with contemporary digital audiences while providing another platform for the voices, sounds and stories of Borneo.
