Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has received international recognition at the 2026 Prix Italia, with its documentary series The Holy Elements winning the SIGNIS Special Prize. The award was presented at the ceremony held in L’Aquila, Italy, on 2 October, with the broadcaster announcing the achievement on 6 October.
Produced as a four-part documentary to commemorate KBS’s founding, The Holy Elements explores sacred objects preserved across different parts of the world, examining the relationships between faith, culture and the human experience.
The series, which aired in March 2026, takes viewers on a journey through religious traditions and cultural heritage, highlighting the significance of sacred objects and the stories associated with them.
Organised by Italian public broadcaster RAI, Prix Italia has recognised excellence in broadcasting and audiovisual production since 1948. The SIGNIS Special Prize, presented since 1977, is selected by a dedicated jury of international communications professionals.
The recognition highlights KBS’s continued commitment to producing documentaries that explore cultural diversity, history and shared human experiences for audiences at home and internationally.
