Asiavision rates to go down

1 Oct 2026

At the recently concluded Global News Forum, members approved a series of transformative proposals designed to modernise Asiavision services and enhance support for regional broadcasters.

Chief among these updates is a significant overhaul of Asiavision’s pricing model.

Originally established during the early days of satellite broadcasting, the legacy fee structure will be replaced with a 30 percent across-the-board rate reduction, organised across five membership tiers to make services significantly more accessible for regional media outlets.

During closed-door group discussions, members also tackled key organisational and operational matters to strengthen the network’s governance.

A notable outcome was the proposal to expand the News Group Committee to five seats, allocating the Chair and two Vice Chair positions to Asiavision while reserving two seats for the broader Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) membership.

To further drive regional development, delegates unveiled plans to launch expanded in-country training initiatives starting next year aimed at bolstering technical and editorial capabilities within local newsrooms.

The forum wrapped up with a thorough presentation of the annual financial report, giving delegates a transparent look into the organisation’s current financial standing and resource allocation strategy.
