The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) News department presentation at the annual General Assembly in Colombo, Sri Lanka, revealed remarkable performance statistics.
Driven by structural acceleration across member newsrooms, monthly upload velocity and download demand at Asiavision surged to unprecedented heights during the 2025–2026 reporting period.
ABU News Vice Chair Nesryn Bouziane noted that supply growth drove monthly uploads up by 81.7%—rising from 1,341 per month in 2024 to 1,881 in 2025, and reaching and average of 2,437 per month in 2026 year-to-date (YTD).
Concurrently, member download demand grew by 62.3%, climbing from 2,389 downloads per month in 2024 to 3,053 in 2025, and reaching and average of 4000 per month in 2026 YTD.
This record volume is powered by strategic partnerships and modernised workflows spanning technology, talent, and editorial curation.
ABU News Chair Ahmet Görmez highlighted that strong member usage demonstrates high demand for unique coverage, noting that this trend is especially evident when soft news stories rank among the top downloads.
