Bangladesh Television Appoints Kazi Jesin as Director General

12 Aug 2026

The Government of Bangladesh has appointed Kazi Jesin as the new Director General of Bangladesh Television (BTV) on a one-year contractual basis. The appointment was approved by the Ministry of Public Administration under the Bangladesh Television Authority Act, 2001, and will take effect from the date she officially assumes office.

Jesin brings decades of experience in journalism and broadcasting to the role. Widely recognised as a respected television presenter, news anchor and media professional, she has built a distinguished career in Bangladesh’s broadcast industry and is expected to play a key role in guiding the country’s national television broadcaster through its next phase of development.

As Director General, Jesin will oversee BTV’s strategic and operational activities, including content development, public service broadcasting initiatives and organisational management. Her appointment comes at a time when broadcasters across the region are adapting to rapidly evolving audience expectations, digital transformation and the growing demand for trusted, high-quality public media.

The government stated that the remaining terms and conditions of her appointment will be governed by a formal agreement between the government and the newly appointed Director General.
