The Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) continues to play a vital role as Bhutan’s national public broadcaster, delivering nationwide news in Dzongkha and English while promoting inclusive, community-focused storytelling.

With a strong emphasis on public service, BBS coverage spans government policies, national development priorities, and community-level stories from rural areas, while also preserving Bhutan’s cultural identity and addressing key social issues.

BBS has also been actively engaged at the regional level, participating in Asia-Pacific content exchange initiatives, contributing to cross-border storytelling, and strengthening capacity through training and collaboration with international partners.

Reflecting Bhutan’s national priorities, BBS has placed particular focus on climate and environmental reporting, including coverage of climate change, disaster preparedness, and resilience. Through its reporting, BBS plays a critical role in raising public awareness and supporting vulnerable communities with relevant and timely information.

In this context, BBS will host the ABU Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Prevention (CADP) 2026 in Paro, Bhutan on 16-18 June, bringing together regional and international stakeholders to advance dialogue on climate communication and emergency preparedness.

The Summit is expected to further strengthen collaboration between media, policymakers, and technical partners, reinforcing the role of broadcasters in translating climate and early warning information into actionable knowledge for communities.
