Fiji Television Limited has received a significant boost to its news gathering capabilities following the donation of new broadcast equipment from BBC Media Action and the British High Commission. The initiative, which also supports fellow broadcaster Mai TV, aims to enhance the quality of journalism and strengthen the delivery of community-focused stories across Fiji.

The equipment package includes professional camera kits, field production equipment and editing tools designed to improve news coverage and storytelling. The support forms part of an ongoing partnership that extends beyond equipment, with BBC Media Action continuing to provide training programmes, content grants and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen Fiji’s media sector.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, representatives from BBC Media Action and the British High Commission emphasised the importance of equipping journalists with the tools needed to produce accurate, reliable and impactful reporting. The donation is expected to help broadcasters amplify diverse community voices, improve reporting from the field and deliver high-quality public interest journalism to audiences throughout Fiji.
