“We believe transparency about content is becoming just as important as the content itself,” said the Chief of NHK’s Asia General Bureau, Taro Mitamura. He explained the case example during the Kumamoto Earthquake this year, the trust can no longer depend solely on what we see and increasingly it must depend on what we can verify.

Speaking during the Members Showcase at the 2026 Global News Forum, Mitamura stressed that this is the reason why NHK is advising C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard.

In Thailand, Thai PBS World Director Clare Patchimanon explained, “…a phrase in Thai that can be translated into English as ‘we stand by each other in times of crisis’. And that is exactly what we aim to do at Thai PBS.”
