Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) is progressing with restoration and infrastructure improvement works at its broadcasting facilities in Tatkone following damage caused by the earthquake earlier this year.
Myanmar’s Union Minister for Information, U Maung Maung Ohn, inspected the ongoing renovation works at MRTV on 24 September, reviewing progress on facilities affected by the earthquake as well as planned construction and upgrading projects.
Among the areas being restored is MRTV’s Large Studio, where repair works are underway to address earthquake damage and ensure the facility can continue supporting broadcasting and production activities. The inspection also covered repairs to damaged buildings, roofing and other facilities within the MRTV compound, alongside improvements to infrastructure used by staff.
In addition to the restoration work, MRTV is preparing further construction projects and equipment procurement under its 2026–27 capital budget. The plans are aimed at strengthening the broadcaster’s facilities and supporting its technical and operational requirements. Officials were instructed to ensure that renovation and construction works meet the required standards, while maintaining safety and quality throughout the restoration process.
The ongoing work forms part of efforts to restore MRTV’s broadcasting infrastructure following the earthquake while improving the resilience and operational capacity of its facilities for the future.
