Papua New Guinea’s National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has delivered one of its most extensive weekends of international sports coverage, bringing three major sporting events from different time zones to audiences across the country.
The broadcaster provided live coverage of the Betfred Super League Grand Final in England, a boxing bout featuring Papua New Guinean athlete John Ume in Auckland, New Zealand, and a London Broncos match.
The broadcasts marked a significant achievement for NBC’s sports programming, allowing audiences to follow international competitions and Papua New Guinean athletes in real time without relying on delayed highlights or updates.
NBC Managing Director Kora Nou highlighted the broadcaster’s commitment to making major sporting moments accessible to viewers across Papua New Guinea, particularly in a country where rugby league and other sports play an important role in national life.
The coverage also demonstrated NBC’s ability to coordinate international sports broadcasts across multiple time zones, strengthening its role in connecting local audiences with sporting events taking place overseas.
By providing free access to live international competitions, NBC continues to expand its public-service sports offering while bringing major events closer to communities throughout Papua New Guinea.
