Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) has strengthened its commitment to responsible journalism through a new partnership with the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI), aimed at combating misinformation and improving professional standards across Indonesia’s media industry.
The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 26 October 2026 at RRI’s headquarters in Jakarta, establishing a framework for cooperation in media literacy, professional development and public information dissemination. The collaboration will include Training of Trainers programmes, journalist competency assessments and initiatives to strengthen the ability of media professionals to identify and address false information.
SMSI Chairman Firdaus highlighted the importance of cooperation between public broadcasters and digital media organisations in responding to the increasing challenges posed by misinformation.
The partnership also seeks to strengthen public access to reliable information by drawing on RRI’s broadcasting reach and SMSI’s extensive network of digital media organisations across Indonesia.
