Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation will co-host ABU Robocon 2026 on 23 August at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong.

Under the theme “Kung Fu Quest,” the competition will bring together leading university teams from 15 countries and regions. Participants will design and operate robots to complete challenges inspired by traditional Chinese martial arts, combining engineering, artificial intelligence, strategy and teamwork.

Established in 2002, the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest – ABU Robocon is the region’s largest international robotics competition for university students.

Organised annually by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and hosted by an ABU member, the competition promotes creativity, engineering excellence, teamwork and cross-cultural exchange among young innovators.

Each year, participating teams design and build robots to complete challenges inspired by the culture and traditions of the host country. The event is broadcast across the Asia-Pacific, showcasing emerging talent and encouraging greater interest in science, technology, engineering and innovation.

Hong Kong will be represented by teams from the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The event will be broadcast to audiences across the Asia-Pacific and simulcast on RTHK TV 31.
