The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) and Syria’s General Authority for Radio and Television have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation across radio and television broadcasting.

Signed in Riyadh, the agreement establishes a framework for greater collaboration between the two national broadcasting organisations, including the exchange of audio and visual programmes across culture, education, science, entertainment, sports and news.

SBA Chief Executive Officer Ali bin Abdullah Al-Zaid signed the agreement on behalf of Saudi Arabia, while Alaa Mustafa Barsilo, Director General of Syria’s General Authority for Radio and Television, represented the Syrian side.

Beyond programme exchange, the partnership will encourage greater sharing of broadcasting expertise and information, as well as professional exchanges between specialists from both countries. The two organisations also plan to collaborate through conferences, seminars and workshops designed to strengthen professional knowledge and media capabilities.

The agreement forms part of wider efforts to deepen media cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Syria. During discussions in Riyadh, media representatives from both countries also explored opportunities in areas including news exchange, content development, joint television and drama production, digital media and professional training.

A joint executive working team is also expected to help develop future media initiatives, programmes and projects between the two countries.

The MoU builds on growing media ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria and creates new opportunities for their broadcasting organisations to exchange knowledge, develop professional capabilities and explore joint initiatives across both traditional and emerging media platforms.
