The President of the Broadcasting Association of Nepal (BAN), Chandra Neupane, had died of Covid-19 at the age of 50.

Mr Neupane died on 28 May at Birat Medical College in Biratnagar, where he was being treated for the virus, a spokesperson for the Federation of Nepali Journalists said. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on 11 May.

Mr Neupane was the Station Manager of Saptakoshi FM in Itahari, one of the largest FM radio stations in eastern Nepal. He had held the position for 10 years.

BAN is an umbrella organisation of privately owned FM stations in Nepal. It is an Associate member of the ABU.

Mr Neupane leaves a son and a daughter.
