Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) has strengthened its collaboration with the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) to bring elements of its globally recognised ‘Ninja Warrior’ obstacle course format into modern pentathlon competitions ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Under the agreement, UIPM will be able to use selected TBS-designed obstacles and programme elements in official obstacle racing events. The partnership follows the inclusion of obstacle racing as a replacement for equestrian show jumping in the modern pentathlon. TBS described the agreement as a significant milestone for the internationally successful ‘Sasuke’ (Ninja Warrior) franchise, which has been adapted in more than 25 countries worldwide.
