Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Director-General Ashwad Ismail has been conferred the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M.), which carries the title Datuk, in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebrations of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.

The honour was conferred during the State of Melaka’s investiture ceremony on 24 August 2026, where 1,328 recipients received various state honours, appointments, medals and decorations. Ashwad was among 189 individuals awarded the D.P.S.M. this year.

Ashwad, who was appointed RTM Director-General earlier this year, was recognised alongside individuals from a range of fields, including public service, business, politics and the arts. His recognition reflects his contribution to Malaysia’s broadcasting and media landscape.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil congratulated Ashwad on the honour, expressing hope that the recognition would serve as further motivation for him to achieve greater success in his role.

The honour marks a notable recognition for RTM’s leadership as the national broadcaster continues to navigate the evolving media and broadcasting environment.
