Showcase sessions to highlight success stories

28 Aug 2026

The countdown to the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s (ABU) Global News Forum and Associated Meetings is gaining momentum. Co-hosted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the three-day gathering brings together regional news leaders, media practitioners, and international partners directly to the ABC’s headquarters in Ultimo, Sydney.

Centered on the theme “Resilient Journalism: Safeguarding Truth and Wellbeing,” this year’s forum addresses the dual pressures facing modern newsrooms. Delegates will examine strategies for protecting editorial integrity against misinformation, deepfakes, and emerging AI tools, while simultaneously prioritizing the mental health, safety, and operational resilience of journalists reporting under high stress.

A central highlight of the forum is the dedicated showcase sessions, where ABU members and industry partners will share real-world success stories. Broadcasters will present practical case studies detailing how they navigated complex news events, launched dynamic digital-first initiatives, and leveraged cross-border content exchanges like Asiavision to amplify their regional coverage. Partners will also demonstrate technological advancements in field gear, automation, and syndication tools designed to help member networks scale their reach.

In addition to celebrating achievements, the event offers a collaborative space for peers to dive into operational realities. Members will share actionable insights on what they have implemented in their own newsrooms to boost efficiency, modernize workflows, and optimize limited resources. Topics range from integrating automated news production platforms and streaming technologies to adopting healthier organizational policies that support staff retention and protect on-the-ground news teams.

The schedule features dedicated time for interactive learning and open discussion. Beyond classic presentation panels, delegates can participate in super-panels, roundtable debates, and practical masterclasses designed to address shared bottlenecks. These collaborative spaces allow attendees to ask tough operational questions, troubleshoot common industry challenges, and forge strategic regional partnerships.

The ABC has been working closely with the ABU News Department to ensure a seamless and high-impact experience. The event begins this Wednesday.
