Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) highlighted the role of digital radio in education at eLearning Africa 2026, where Nigerian education and media organisation Edugist showcased DRM-based learning solutions to delegates from across the continent. The demonstrations illustrated how educational audio, text, images, and interactive learning content can be delivered to tablet devices, even in areas with limited or unreliable internet connectivity.

Presented during Africa’s largest conference on digital education and skills development, the initiative demonstrated how digital radio can support the delivery of learning materials, teacher training resources, and public information services to large audiences without requiring continuous internet access.

According to DRM, the positive response from educators, policymakers, and technology experts reinforced the continuing value of radio as an accessible and cost-effective platform for education. The technology combines the broad reach of broadcasting with multimedia and interactive capabilities, offering new opportunities to expand digital learning in underserved communities.
