Shanghai Media Group (SMG) has officially launched the “See You in Shanghai!” 2026 Performance Season, a large-scale cultural and entertainment initiative aimed at strengthening Shanghai’s position as a major international hub for live performances, theatre, and creative industries.

The season will feature a wide range of productions including international musicals, immersive theatre experiences, concerts, and stage performances designed to attract both domestic and international audiences. The initiative also forms part of broader efforts to boost cultural tourism and enhance Shanghai’s global cultural profile.

According to organisers, the programme reflects growing collaboration between media organisations, cultural institutions, and the entertainment industry as cities increasingly position creative economies and live entertainment as key drivers of tourism, audience engagement, and economic activity.

The launch also highlights the expanding role media groups such as SMG continue to play beyond traditional broadcasting, increasingly extending into entertainment, cultural production, live events, and integrated multimedia experiences.
