With the FIFA World Cup underway, Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) and Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) have partnered with local governments in several provinces, including Riau and South Kalimantan, to organise official community public screenings, known locally as *nonton bareng* (nobar). During the first week of July, regional station leaders met with local authorities to coordinate broadcasting access and community engagement activities, ensuring audiences across Indonesia can enjoy the tournament through official public broadcasting platforms.

As part of the nationwide initiative, TVRI Riau Station Head Didik Kusjadmika met with Acting Governor of Riau, SF Hariyanto, on 1 July to strengthen cooperation between the broadcaster and the provincial government. The discussions focused on enhancing public information services, supporting regional development, and coordinating a public viewing event of the FIFA World Cup scheduled for 11 July.

The Acting Governor welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between the provincial government and the public broadcaster in delivering trusted information and community-focused programmes.

The initiative reflects TVRI’s continued commitment to expanding access to major sporting events while strengthening its role as Indonesia’s public broadcaster through closer collaboration with local communities and government partners across the country.
