ABU and UOWM Sign MoU to Strengthen Media Education

13 Jul 2026

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and the University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOWM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in media education, professional development, and industry engagement.

The agreement was formalised during the ABU Content Festival (CON-FEST) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur by ABU Secretary-General Ahmed Nadeem and UOWM Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Dr Hiew Pang Leang.

The partnership aims to foster closer cooperation between academia and the broadcasting industry through joint initiatives in training, capacity building, research, and knowledge exchange. It also seeks to create greater opportunities for students, media professionals, and broadcasters to enhance their skills and prepare for the evolving media landscape.

The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of the ABU and UOWM to developing future-ready media talent and strengthening professional excellence across the Asia-Pacific broadcasting industry through education, innovation, and lifelong learning.
