Bang Singapore is a private limited company, established on 5 September 2002 in Singapore, with offices in Korea and Japan. The company is involved in managing production, media advisory services working closely with government agencies and media companies in the private sector, consulting and media-related financial services. Bang Singapore organised the region’s largest documentary festival, ASD (Asian Side of the Doc) in 2013.
Bang Singapore, a subsidiary of Bang Productions, together have achieved critical acclaim for their high-end quality productions showcasing stories from Asia that have been aired in more than 150 countries in genres ranging from history to archaeology to fashion.
Bang productions have included The Secrets of the Battleship Yamato with the NOVA series on PBS in the USA, Discovery, OTF, the MDA of Singapore and TV Asahi; Zheng He: Emperor of the Seas, a co-production with Arte, Off the Fence and NHK with dramatic recreations by leading Chinese film director Chen Kaige; Guge: Lost Civilisation of Tibet with France 5, the Media Development Authority of Singapore and Discovery Networks Asia.
Bang created and produced Hip Korea (2009); Revealed: Dream City of the Future (Korea 2010); Beyond the Tsunami: The Spirit of Japan’s Recovery with Ken Watanabe (2012).
Bang has received many nominations for Best Documentary in Asia, Best Magazine Show in Asia and others and has won awards including Best Documentary – Gold Medal at Worldfest 2008 for Guge and winner of Best Editing in Asia in 2010 for Hip Korea: Yu-Na Kim.
