General Information: Founded in 2003, Broadcasting Association of Nepal is an umbrella organization of all the independent FM stations in Nepal. There are more than 246-member radio stations in our organization. BAN has been advocating for the welfare of its members since the time of its establishment. Witnessing several ups and down in the country, BAN has always stood in the front to support democratic movements and social transformations in the country.
Beside the political movement it has been working to create social harmony and sustainable peace in the country by broadcasting various kinds of programs in various local languages through its members.
As an association, it aims to promote, protect, and strengthen the capacity of the community radios so that they can contribute to social transformation and the Nepalese people can access accurate information and enjoy freedom of speech. Fundamentally, it benefits Nepal’s democratization and peace process by allowing for greater expression at the grassroots and by linking the voices of marginalized, excluded, and poverty-stricken to the national discourse.
BAN envisions a prosperous Nepal with peace and stability as it has entered now into a new era of development through promulgation of new constitution. As the member FM stations are spread throughout the country, the impact of its social messages is widely witnessed. BAN has been playing supportive role to acquire MDG in Nepal. Various programs broadcast through its member’s stations are quite supportive and well praised in the society since they are quite popular.
