MTVA (Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund) was established in January 2011, all the assets and most of the staff of the former public service media organizations (MTV, Duna TV, MR) and of the National News Agency (MTI), were transferred to the MTVA.
MTVA is responsible for the content production, commissioning and acquisition of public service radio and television programmes, it exercises the ownership rights over the public service media assets, as well as manages the online platforms of the public service media.
MTVA with over 2000 employees has become the biggest media enterprise in Hungary exploiting the opportunities provided by eight television channels (M1, M2, M2 Petőfi TV, M4 Sport, M4 Sport+, M5, Duna TV, Duna World), seven radio channels (Kossuth, Petőfi, Bartók, Dankó Radio, Duna World, Parliamentary Broadcasts, National Minority Broadcasts), the national news agency and all of their online surfaces in order to achieve its public service remit, i.e. to provide globally relevant information, quality entertainment and cultural values to the public of Hungary.
In its modern production base and headquarters the company operates digital terrestrial, satellite and online platforms offering approximately 60492 hours of television, 61320 hours of radio programming each year, transmitted to Hungary, Europe, the American continent and Australia. Contents provided by MTVA are broadcast to most of the homes in Hungary with television and radio sets.
MTVA is present at several renowned international media festivals and events worldwide and is an active member of a number of media organizations and professional associations.
