The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) University is a public institution with campuses in Qom and Tehran, Iran. It is affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
When the institution was first established in 1966, they were known as the Technical Training Center, which was later changed to IRIB College and subsequently to IRIB University. Their main goal is to educate skilled artists and technicians in the field of media production. In 1982 they began to offer diploma courses in production leading to bachelor degrees and in 1995 and 1996 degree courses in technical engineering and film production were added to their portfolio. In 1997 a communications degree course was created to complement the academic disciplines. IRIB also established a broadcasting school in Qom in 1997 that offers studies up to degree level.
IRIB University is one of the major universities supervised by the Ministry of Science, Research & Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They now have five main faculties, namely Faculty of Radio, Television and Music Production, Faculty of TV & Digital Arts (Animation & Graphics), Faulty of Broadcast Engineering, Faculty of Communication and Faculty of Media Philosophy. These faculties offer a wide range of specialities in the field of media from associate degrees up to doctorate level.
