Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (JIB) was established in 2010 under the Broadcast Law of Japan to support the operations of NHK World-Japan and to take initiative as a ‘private sector’ in transmitting Japan news to the rest of the world.
For the founding objectives, it was set up as a subsidiary of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and NHK is the largest shareholder of JIB. JIB is however, also supported by a variety of private subscribing companies, such as private-owned television stations, trading companies, banks, and telecommunications companies.
