Japan Media Communication Center (JAMCO) is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation established in April 1991 for the purposes of promoting international mutual understanding and contributing to the development of broadcast in the world.
It was originally created with funds from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Cooperation) and Commercial TV companies members of JBA (Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association).
JAMCO’s main activity is to expand and maintain the library of video programmes that can be provided free of charge to foreign TV stations in developing countries for broadcasting purposes.
For the past 23 years, JAMCO has stored 1,577 superb Japanese TV programmes, including documentary, educational programmes, children’s programmes and drama.
These programmes, which were originally made by NHK and Japanese commercial TV broadcasters, have been dubbed into English, Spanish, Chinese or French and ME version for viewing in foreign countries. A total of 9,882 programmes have so far been provided to 90 countries in Asia, Latin America, Africa, East Europe and the Middle East since the inauguration of JAMCO.
