Established on 11 September 1945, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) has the mandate to serve the public with a variety of programmes and services that are informative, educational and entertaining.
RRI has been an independent, neutral, and non-commercial public service broadcaster since 11 March 2005. It is a trusted source of information that is free from any intervention by political and commercial interests.
RRI has 6,306 civil servants, 1,431 non-civil servants and 77 stations scattered throughout the Indonesian archipelago serving the 2,857 municipalities. It also has 631 FM, 188 MW and 95 SW transmitter stations. For listeners abroad, it broadcasts in nine languages.
RRI safeguards the interests of Indonesians. Overall, RRI upholds Indonesia’s cultural diversity and is dedicated to the promotion of harmonious relations among people of different cultures in Indonesia.
