Established in 1997, Radio Sagarmatha is the first independent community radio in entire South Asia. Ever since, it has evolved as a truly independent and highly credible community radio in Nepal. It was founded following steadfast efforts which had come from leading journalists who had associated themselves under Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) in 1986.
Radio Sagarmatha has a very wide reach. It is available in 14 districts of the country with viewers adding up to over 2.5 million regular listeners. At times it has nearly10 million listeners when its programs are relayed and re-broadcast by local community radio stations throughout the country.
This radio channel is very popular in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavre, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot districts.
