Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was established on September 7, 1945. The Voice of Vietnam is a national radio station and government agency which disseminates the Party’s guidelines and State laws, contributing to the people’s enhanced intellectual standards and spiritual lives. As the leading multimedia corporation in Vietnam, Voice of Vietnam has operated 4 types of media platforms, including: radio, television, printed and online newspapers.
With a frequency coverage in almost the entire territory of Vietnam and the combination of both traditional and advanced transmission methods, Voice of Vietnam has attracted listeners from more than 70 countries around the world.
Radio broadcasting:
News and Current Affairs (VOV1) has the mission of providing listeners with the latest news on politics, diplomacy, economics, and arts and literature.
Cultural and Social Affairs (VOV2) provides news stories, in- depth reports and features on different aspects of society, culture and spiritual life.
Music Channel (VOV3) broadcasts round the clock on FM, providing a high- quality audio musical experience.
Ethnic Minority Channel (VOV4) broadcasts in 13 ethnic minority languages of H’mong, Khmer, Ede, Jarai, Bana, Sedang, K’ho, Thai, Cham, M’Nong, Dao, K’tu and Kinh.
Overseas Service (VOV5) broadcasts on short and medium waves and can be heard in 13 languages: English, French, Russian, Spanish, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Khmer, Lao, Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese.
Literature and Arts is a specialised channel on literature and arts, which is to meet the listeners’ demand for traditional and international literature and arts.
VOV Traffic Channel (on 91 Mhz) is a traffic channel providing traffic information to help traffic users, especially motorists with useful information and instructions.
VOV Health (on 89 Mhz) broadcasts radio programs on medical and health care, food hygiene and environment in the big cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Can Tho and Da Nang province.
Television:
VOV has 17 television channels
including VOVTV and the other 16 VTC television channels.
VOVTV was firstly launched in 2008. The channel is to deliver programs on all aspects of political, economic, social and artistic life.
VTC Digital Television is one of the three biggest television networks in Vietnam. The station has 16 TV channels.
VOV Online newspaper
VOV.VN (Website: www.vov.vn) is a quick and accurate multimedia information provider. VOV.VN has maintained its high position as one of the key websites with high readership amongst official websites in Vietnam.
VTCNEWS (www.vtc.vn) was launched in 2007. It is a news portal which also provide news and information of all walks of daily life and entertainment. This is ranked as one of the most popular and prestigious portal in Vietnam.
02 printed newspapers:
Voice of Vietnam: The paper comes off the press twice weekly and is circulated nationwide.
Song Viet magazine (published on a monthly basis) is a new publication of Voice of Vietnam to reflect and study important national issues and events.
02 VOV Apps:
VOVMedia is a multimedia app created to provide audiences with radio and television programs, online services of Voice of Vietnam. The highlight of VOV Media is the function of live streaming.
VTC Now is a content distribution app providing diversified and reliable news, updates, sporting events, entertainment programs, and films and so on.
