Since 2011, he has dedicated his efforts to help bring together Belgium’s French-speaking radio industry and facilitate a digital distribution of radio, with DAB+ at the heart of a multiplatform hybrid strategy.
In 2013, under his leadership RTBF – together with the main private radio stations – created maRadio.be, a digital radio alliance promoting Radioplayer.be and DAB+ in Belgium’s French-speaking-regions.
Francis has been a member of the WorldDAB steering board since 2013.
Commenting on his award, Francis Goffin said:
“I would like to thank WorldDAB President Patrick Hannon and the entire WorldDAB community for giving me this wonderful award which underlines my involvement in the promotion of DAB+ for almost 10 years now. I am truly delighted and honoured. I believe this award also honours the entire Belgian radio sector, which has collectively embarked on the digital migration from analogue FM to DAB+ digital radio with great enthusiasm. It also honours the maRadio.be team, which has ensured – with the support of public authorities – the successful implementation and promotion of DAB+ across the Wallonia-Brussels Federation of Belgium since the official launch of DAB+ on 4 November 2019, exactly one year ago.
Thank you all again.”
Congratulations, Francis!
