DRM+ Digital Radio system to be showcased in FM band in India

Wednesday 18 May 2011
All India Radio (AIR) and the DRM Consortium will showcase the DRM+ digital radio system in FM band for the first time in India, from 23rd – 27th May 2011. The purpose of the event is to test coverage, power and interference of DRM+ using a 220W, transmitter comparing results with the analogue performance, for an area of approximately 10 km in and around New Delhi. The trial will last for five days and involves the participation of DRM Consortium members Nautel, Fraunhofer IIS, Leibniz University of Hanover, Rfmondial and BBC World Service.

The test will be followed by a workshop (26th – 27th May) organised by the DRM Consortium and AIR, with invited guests from the Indian/Asian broadcasting community. After evaluation, the trial results will be made public jointly by AIR and the DRM Consortium.
