International radio fellowship announced

Monday 01 Aug 2011
A two-week international fellowship has been announced by Commercial Radio Australia and Singapore’s premier radio network, MediaCorp, as a prize for the winner of this year’s Brian White Award at the annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs).

The Brian White Award, named after a well-known Australian commercial radio newsman, recognises journalistic achievement and effort in all aspects of radio journalism.

The winner of this year’s award will receive flights, accommodation and a two week fellowship placement at MediaCorp in Singapore.

MediaCorp is the leading radio broadcaster in Singapore operating 13 FM stations, which broadcast in four different languages offering news, sports, information, music and entertainment for a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Commercial Radio Australia’s CEO, Joan Warner said: “The Brian White Award has long been considered one of the most prestigious awards at the ACRAs and the new prize element will further add to the status of the Award”.

In addition, the CRA and MediaCorp arrangement allows for a MediaCorp nominated candidate from Singapore to spend two weeks at an Australian Commercial Radio station.

MediaCorp and CRA will determine the type of station and area of work, depending on the candidate.

This year’s Brian White Award will be announced at the 23rd Australian Commercial Radio Awards at the Gold Coast on 15 October.
