Radio Pakistan employees chip in to help flood victims

Saturday 10 Sep 2011
Radio Pakistan employees will contribute a day’s wages to provide relief to flood victims in the Sindh region, the South Asian News Agency reported.

This was decided during a meeting held with Director-General Murtaza Solangi today.

Apart from playing its regular role of providing information during natural calamities, Radio Pakistan has, in the past, also provided donations to mitigate the suffering of those affected by floods and earthquakes.

Radio Pakistan is broadcasting special programmes for those in flood-hit areas of Sindh and to create awareness about dengue fever in various parts of the country.

All Radio Pakistan channels will air special bulletins with weather updates for the flood-hit areas. It has also increased the number of reporting teams in the area to widen coverage.

Radio Pakistan has also launched a fund-raising campaign to help flood victims. Funds collected will be channeled to the provincial relief fund.

Another campaign it has initiated enables dengue fever patients and their caregivers to call any Radio Pakistan station with their details to appeal for blood donations.
