Asianews workshop opens in Dhaka

Monday 19 Sep 2011
A regional news training programme run by the ABU and its partners entered a new stage today when a weeklong workshop kicked off in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Asianews project features four workshops over the course of 2011 and 2012 for senior journalists from around the region. The Dhaka workshop is the second, following a similar workshop in Colombo in June.

The ABU is running the project in partnership with Canal France International, which is providing expert trainers. The ABU’s daily news exchange, Asiavision, is funding the participation of its members.

The trainers in Dhaka are senior French journalists Melanie Dalsace and Brigitte Besse. The local host is the Multimedia Development and Communications Centre (MDCC), which is an ABU member.

The two workshops in 2011 are for broadcasters from South Asia, and the 2012 workshops for those from Southeast Asia and other parts of Asia.
