PTV-Pakistan and TRT-Turkey to sign agreement

Media co-operation between Pakistan and Turkey is to be strengthened with new proposals devised to explore the exchange of news, drama series and technical knowledge between the state television networks of both countries, RapidTV reports.

Pakistan Television and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding this week, during an official visit to Turkey by Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan.

During her five-day visit, the Minister will also participate in a fund-raising telethon for flood victims of Sindh and visit a number of media groups, including Zaman and Hurriat.

Associated Press of Pakistan reports that Dr Firdous met 0brahim ^ahin, Director General of RT. She thanked TRT for highlighting the magnitude of the flood damage in Pakistan and for providing her with an opportunity to appear in a talk show to appeal for assistance for the flood victims.
